Overview

Canada PR Process

Canada PR (Permanent Residency) grants non-Canadian citizens the right to live, work, and study in Canada indefinitely, with access to social benefits and protection under Canadian law. It is a step towards gaining full Canadian citizenship, though it does not grant the right to vote in Canadian elections.

A Canadian Permanent Resident Visa is a gateway to permanent resident status in Canada. It is valid for 5 years, and candidates with a Canada PR card can live, study, and work in Canada freely. Based on their eligibility, they can apply for Canadian citizenship.

Key Benefits

  • Strong Career Prospects: High demand & competitive salaries.
  • High Quality of Life: Safe environment & universal healthcare.
  • World-Class Education: Excellent schooling for children.
  • Inclusive Society: Welcoming, multicultural communities.
  • Pathways to Residency: Express Entry & PNPs.
  • Work-Life Balance: Reasonable hours, good leave.

Application Process Steps

Your step-by-step roadmap to obtaining your visa and PR.

Step 1: Get Your Credentials Assessed

Apply for an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) to verify your foreign qualifications to meet Canadian standards.

Step 2: Take a Language Test

Clear IELTS General Training or CELPIP to increase your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply.

Step 3: Create Your Express Entry Profile

Register on the IRCC portal and fill in your work experience, education, age, and language scores to submit your profile.

Step 4: Enter the Express Entry Pool

Your profile is ranked against all other candidates in the pool with points awarded for age, education, work experience, and language ability.

Step 5: Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA)

Upon meeting the CRS cut-off, you receive an ITA to apply for Canada PR.

Step 6: Submit Your PR Application

After receiving the ITA, you have 60 days to submit a complete application.

Step 7: Receive Confirmation of PR (COPR)

Once IRCC approves your application, you receive your Confirmation of Permanent Residence.
